DESCRIPTION

The swing grille actuator assembly receives signals from the ECM, hybrid vehicle control ECU and air conditioning amplifier assembly via CAN communication. Based on these signals, the swing grille actuator assembly operates the radiator shutter sub-assembly.

Note:
  • Before performing troubleshooting, change the grille shutter control mode to maintenance mode.

  • If the swing grille actuator assembly has been replaced with a new one, perform initialization and change the grille shutter control mode.

    CHECK FOR FOREIGN OBJECT


    1. Check that the radiator shutter sub-assembly is free of foreign matter and ice.

      OK

      Disconnect the A83 swing grille actuator assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A83-4 (+B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A83-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    READ VALUE USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Grill Shutter / Active Test.

    5. According to the display on the GTS, perform the Active Test to open and close the grille shutter.


      1. Body Electrical > Grill Shutter > Active Test

    7. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

    1. Remove the radiator shutter sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the swing grille actuator assembly.

      Click here

    3. Manually open and close the radiator shutter sub-assembly and check that it moves smoothly.
