DESCRIPTION

The pedestrian detection ECU assembly consists of a deceleration sensor, safing sensor, drive circuit, diagnosis circuit, ignition control, etc.

If the pedestrian detection ECU assembly receives signals from the pedestrian protection sensor, it determines whether or not the pop up hood lifter should be activated.

DTC B11A0, B11A1, B11A2, B11A3 or B11A4 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the pedestrian detection ECU assembly.

Tech Tips


  • If a DTC (except B11A0, B11A1, B11A2, B11A3 or B11A4) is output at the same time as B11A0, B11A1, B11A2, B11A3 or B11A4 repair the malfunction from that DTC first.

  • Perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the pedestrian protection system or driving the vehicle on various types of roads.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC


    1. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Pedestrian Protection > Trouble Codes

      DTC B11A0, B11A1, B11A2, B11A3 or B11A4 is output A
      DTC B11A0, B11A1, B11A2, B11A3 or B11A4 and other DTCs are output B

      Note

      If only DTC B11A0, B11A1, B11A2, B11A3 or B11A4 is output, do not clear the DTCs. Replace the pedestrian detection ECU assembly.

      Tech Tips

      If any DTCs other than DTC B11A0, B11A1, B11A2, B11A3 or B11A4 are also output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
