FRONT FLOOR AIRBAG SENSOR REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the side airbag sensor assembly removal/installation are shown below.

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH

  3. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

  4. REMOVE OUTER LAP BELT ANCHOR COVER

  5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH(FLOOR ANCHOR)

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 SIDE TRIM BRACKET

  7. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • B004A52

        Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • B004BCT

        If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal of the battery, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the side airbag sensor assembly LH. Therefore, make sure that the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal of the battery is disconnected before performing this procedure.

    3. Turn up the front floor carpet.

    4. Disconnect the airbag connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.


      1. Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push the housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note

        Do not push down the upper part of the CPA shown in the illustration when disconnecting the airbag connector.

      3. After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

      Remove the bolt.

      Note


      • Loosen the bolt while holding the side airbag sensor assembly LH because the side airbag sensor assembly LH guide is easily damaged.

      • If the side airbag sensor assembly LH has been dropped, replace it with a new one.

    6. Detach the guide and remove the side airbag sensor assembly LH.

    7. Make sure that front floor carpet is returned to its original position.
