Note
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

Deployment Side |
When storing the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
Check that the power switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
Remove the 3 bolts.

Place your hand at the position shown in the illustration and pull toward the rear of the vehicle to detach the claws and pull out the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.

Tilt the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly toward the seat and support it with one hand.
Using a screwdriver, release the lock button and disconnect the airbag connector.
Tech Tips
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
Using a screwdriver, disconnect the clamp and remove the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.
