REAR BUMPER REASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT (for Type A)


    1. B004NYC

      Install the rear bumper reinforcement with the 6 bolts.

      Torque:
      29 N*m  { 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT (for Type B)

      Install the rear bumper reinforcement with the 6 bolts.

      Torque:
      29 N*m  { 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER (for Type A)

      B006ZFL Install in this Direction

      Engage the 2 guides to install the rear bumper energy absorber as shown in the illustration.

  4. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL LH

      for Single Type:


      1. Install the 3 clips.

      for Dual Type:


      1. Install the 2 clips.

    3. B004JQ3

      Install the rear bumper side seal LH with 2 new grommets.

  5. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL RH


    1. B004KEV

      Install the 2 clips.

    2. B004LM8

      Install the rear bumper side seal RH with 2 new grommets.

  6. INSTALL REAR BUMPER UPPER RETAINER LH


    1. Engage the grommet.

      Engage the 2 guides to temporarily install the rear bumper upper retainer LH to the rear combination light assembly LH.

      Engage the guide and pin as shown in the illustration to temporarily install the rear bumper upper retainer LH and rear combination light assembly LH as a set.

    4. Install the rear combination light assembly with the 2 screws.

    5. Connect the connector.

    6. Install the rear bumper upper retainer LH with the screw.

  7. INSTALL REAR BUMPER UPPER RETAINER RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  8. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE RETAINER LH

      Engage the guide as shown in the illustration.

    2. Engage the 2 claws.

      Install the rear bumper side retainer LH with the screw.

  9. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE RETAINER RH

  17. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD

    Tech Tips


    • When installing the rear bumper pad, heat the rear bumper cover using a heat light.

    • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    Heating Temperature
    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear bumper cover excessively.


    1. Clean the rear bumper cover surface.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

      2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

    2. Remove the release paper from a new rear bumper pad.

      Tech Tips

      After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      Install the rear bumper pad as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Press the rear bumper pad firmly to install it.

  18. INSTALL LOWER REAR BUMPER COVER (for Type A)


    1. Engage the 12 claws.

    2. Install the 2 clips.

    3. Install the lower rear bumper cover with the 2 screws.

  19. INSTALL REAR BUMPER CORNER EXTENSION LH (for Type B)

      Engage the 4 guides and 4 claws to install the rear bumper corner extension LH.

  20. INSTALL REAR BUMPER CORNER EXTENSION RH (for Type B)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  21. INSTALL REAR BUMPER EXTENSION MOULDING LH (for Type B)

      Engage the 4 claws to install the rear bumper extension moulding LH.

  22. INSTALL REAR BUMPER EXTENSION MOULDING RH (for Type B)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  23. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY LH

      Engage the guide and claw.

      Install the reflex reflector assembly LH with the screw.

  24. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  25. INSTALL ULTRASONIC SENSOR CLIP (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System)


    1. Clean the rear bumper cover.


      1. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.

      2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the ultrasonic sensor clip installation area.

      Note


      • Use a clean brush or felt.

      • Do not touch the rear bumper cover until the primer has dried.

    3. Peel off the release paper from 2 new ultrasonic sensor clips.

    4. Align the 2 ultrasonic sensor clips with the mark on the rear bumper cover and install it as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Ensure that the ultrasonic sensor clip is within the line.

      • The double-sided tape of an ultrasonic sensor clip will deteriorate if it is detached. Make sure to replace the ultrasonic sensor clip with a new one when reattachment is necessary.

      Tech Tips

      Press the ultrasonic sensor clip with a force of 30 N (3.0 kgf) for 3 seconds to install the ultrasonic sensor clip firmly so that there is no clearance between the ultrasonic sensor clip and rear bumper cover.

  26. INSTALL NO. 2 LUGGAGE ROOM WIRE (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System)


    1. Engage the 2 clamps to install the No. 2 luggage room wire.
