LIGHTING SYSTEM Ambient Illumination Light Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) controls the instrument panel ambient illumination light (instrument panel light assembly).

Note


  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.

  • Before replacing the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU), refer to Service Bulletin.*1

  • The vehicle battery supplies power to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) via the door control battery. Therefore, before performing this troubleshooting procedure, make sure to perform an on-vehicle inspection to confirm that the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) power source circuit is normal.*2

PROCEDURE


  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.


      Body Electrical > Main Body > Active Test

      Preconditions for using the Active Test to check dimmer controlled illumination:


      • Ignition switch ON

      • Shift lever is in any position other than P

  2. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the instrument panel ambient illumination light (instrument panel light assembly).

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the 3F*1 or 3G*2 instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3F-1 - Body ground*1 Always 11 to 14 V
      3G-1 - Body ground*2 Always 11 to 14 V

      • *1: for LHD

      • *2: for RHD

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the K53 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      K89-1 (E) - K53-20 (LED1) Always Below 1 Ω
      K89-1 (E) or K53-20 (LED1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
