The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during air conditioning unit removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note


    • Make sure to select face mode before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    • Make sure to perform initialization after replacing the air conditioning radiator damper servo sub-assembly. If initialization is not performed, the air conditioner unit assembly will not perform properly as the air conditioning amplifier assembly will not be able to recognize the position of the air conditioning radiator damper sub-assembly.

  2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

  3. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK

  6. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Sub-cool Accelerator)


    1. for 8AR-FTS:

        Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

      2. B005LSZ

        Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.

      3. Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe sub-assembly.

        Note

        Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    2. for 2GR-FKE:


      1. B005Q6Z

        Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

      2. B005P3V

        Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.

      3. Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe sub-assembly.

        Note

        Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  7. DISCONNECT NO. 2 AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY (w/ Sub-cool Accelerator)


    1. for 8AR-FTS LHD:


      1. B005NA1

        Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

      2. B005O5E

        Disconnect the No. 2 air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

      3. Remove the 2 O-rings from the No. 2 air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

        Note

        Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    2. for 8AR-FTS RHD:


      1. B005Q64

        Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

      2. B005OPK

        Disconnect the No. 2 air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

      3. Remove the 2 O-rings from the No. 2 air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

        Note

        Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    3. for 2GR-FKE:


      1. B005OAZ

        Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

      2. B005QDE

        Disconnect the No. 2 air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

      3. Remove the 2 O-rings from the No. 2 air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

        Note

        Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  8. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY (w/o Sub-cool Accelerator)


    1. for 8AR-FTS:


      1. B005P70

        Disconnect the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

      2. Remove the O-ring from the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

        Note

        Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    2. for 2GR-FKE:


      1. B005LOQ

        Disconnect the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

      2. Remove the O-ring from the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

        Note

        Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  9. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE

      Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose.

      Note


      • Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose.

      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  10. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE

      Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the inlet heater water hose.

      Note


      • Do not apply excessive force to the inlet heater water hose.

      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 1 air duct.

      Disengage the 4 guides and turn back the front floor carpet assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Remove the clip.

    3. Disengage the claw and remove the rear No. 4 air duct.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts, screw, 2 bolts and No. 1 instrument panel brace sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts, screw, 2 bolts and No. 2 instrument panel brace sub-assembly.

  32. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and instrument panel reinforcement sub-assembly.

  33. REMOVE CENTER HEATER TO REGISTER SUB DUCT

    1. Remove the 3 clips and center heater to register sub duct.

  34. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the clamp.

    2. Disengage the 6 claws to remove the No. 1 air duct sub-assembly.

  35. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE


    1. for LHD:


      1. Remove the bolt (A) and disconnect the earth wire.

      2. Remove the nut (A).

      3. Remove the nut (B).

      4. Remove the 2 nuts (C) and disconnect the connector holder.

      5. Remove the bolt (B) and 2 nuts (D), and disconnect the ECU integration box RH.

      6. Disconnect each connector.

      7. Disengage each clamp and disconnect the instrument panel wire.

    2. for RHD:


      1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.

      2. Remove the nut (A).

      3. Remove the nut (B).

      4. Remove the 2 nuts (C) and disconnect the connector holder.

      5. w/ Panoramic View Monitor System:

        Remove the 2 nuts (D) and disconnect the parking assist ECU.

      6. Disconnect each connector.

      7. Disengage each clamp and disconnect the instrument panel wire.

  37. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CONDITIONER UNIT ASSEMBLY

    Note


    • Be sure to support the air conditioner unit assembly when removing it. Failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioner unit assembly to break.

    • When disassembling the air conditioner unit assembly, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.

      Remove the 2 hole plugs.

      Remove the 2 bolts.

      Disengage the claw and disconnect the drain cooler hose from the piping clamp.

    4. Remove the 4 bolts (A).

    5. Remove the 2 bolts (B) and disconnect the brake pedal support assembly.

    6. Remove the nut.

    7. Disconnect each connector.

    8. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with air conditioner unit assembly as shown in the illustration.

  38. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 3 bolts and air conditioner unit assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.
