REAR DIFFERENTIAL SIDE GEAR SHAFT OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during rear drive shaft oil seal replacement are shown below.

  1. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

      Using SST, remove the rear drive shaft oil seal from the rear differential carrier assembly.

  4. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL

      *1 Rear Drive Shaft Oil Seal

      Using SST and a hammer, install a new rear drive shaft oil seal into the rear differential carrier assembly.

      Note


      • Install the rear drive shaft oil seal uniformly so that it is driven in straight.

      • Do not excessively tap in the rear drive shaft oil seal.

      • Do not damage the rear drive shaft oil seal.

      • Make sure to install the rear drive shaft oil seal as specified, otherwise a malfunction such as an oil leak may occur.

      Standard Distance (A)
      8.2 to 8.8 mm (0.323 to 0.346 in.)
    2. Apply a light coat of MP grease to the lip of the new rear drive shaft oil seal.
