DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when LIN communication between the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator or upper bracket assembly) stops for 10 seconds or more.

Note


  • When using the GTS with the engine switch off to troubleshoot:

    Connect the GTS to the vehicle, and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at 1.5 seconds intervals until communication between the GTS and vehicle begins.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

  • If the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator or upper bracket assembly) is replaced, refer to the Service Bulletin.

Tech Tips

When the communication between the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator or upper bracket assembly) and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) stops, DTC B2785 is also stored.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR OR UPPER BRACKET ASSEMBLY))


    1. Disconnect the K74 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the K20 steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator or upper bracket assembly) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K20-5 (LIN) - K74-17 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      K20-5 (LIN) or K74-17 (LIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Disconnect the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator or upper bracket assembly) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      K20-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      K20-7 (B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    1. Temporarily replace the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator or upper bracket assembly) with a new one.
