REAR SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

  • The rear speed sensor rotor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the rear speed sensor rotor is malfunctioning, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER (for RH Side)

  5. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM BOX (for RH Side)

  6. REMOVE REAR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER (for RH Side)

  7. REMOVE FRONT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER (for RH Side)

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)

  9. REMOVE FRONT UPPER LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER (for RH Side)

  10. SEPARATE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER RH (for RH Side)

  11. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  12. SEPARATE REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER

      Remove the 2 nuts and separate the rear wheel house liner.

  13. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR


    1. for RH Side:


      1. Turn back the luggage compartment trim cover RH until the rear speed sensor connector can be seen.

        Disengage the rear speed sensor connector.

    2. for LH Side:


      1. B004G77

        Disengage the rear speed sensor connector.

    3. B004GD6

      Remove the 3 bolts and separate the rear speed sensor and 2 sensor clamps from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly and rear upper control arm assembly.

      Note


      • Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the rear speed sensor tip.

      • Clean the speed sensor installation hole and the contact surfaces every time the rear speed sensor is removed.

    4. Turn back the rear wheel house liner until the grommet can be disengaged.

      Remove the 2 nuts and 2 sensor clamps.

    6. Disengage the grommet and remove the rear speed sensor.
