INSPECT PARKING BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY
Using brake drum gauge or equivalent, measure the inside diameter of the drum.

Tech Tips
If the drums is scored or worn, the brake drum maybe lathed to the maximum inside diameter.
INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SHOE LINING THICKNESS
Using vernier calipers, measure the shoe lining thickness.

If the shoe lining thickness is less than minimum or shows signs of uneven wear, replace the brake shoes.
Tech Tips
If any of the brake shoes have to be replaced, replace all the parking brake shoes in order to maintain even braking effect.
INSPECT BRAKE DRUM AND REAR DRUM BRAKE SHOE LINING FOR PROPER CONTACT
Apply some chalk inside the brake drum, and rub the drum and the shoe together.
If the contact between the brake lining and drum is improper, repair the lining with a show grinder, replace the brake shoe assembly.
