STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note:

w/ VSC:

  • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.

  • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.

  • Ensure that the steering wheel assembly is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

PROCEDURE

  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      Matchmark

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    3. Disconnect each connector from the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Turn

      Hold

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      Note:

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Pad Switch)

  5. REMOVE ADJUSTABLE SPEED LIMITER SWITCH (CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH) (w/ Speed Limiter System)

  6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE (w/ Speed Limiter System)

    1. Remove the cruise control switch wire.

  7. REMOVE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) (w/ Shift Paddle Switch)

      Guide

      Remove the 2 screws from the steering wheel assembly.

    2. Disengage the guide.

      Disengage the 5 guides, and remove the 2 shift paddle switches (transmission shift switch assemblies) with the No. 1 switch wire from the steering wheel assembly.
