Before replacing the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly), ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) or transmission control ECU, refer to the Service Bulletin.

PROCEDURE


  1. SYSTEM CHECK


    1. Check the vehicle specification.

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start or Main Body / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.

      The test is possible when the following conditions are met:


      • The key is in the cabin.

      • The power switch is on (IG).

  3. CHECK SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT OPERATION


    1. When the immobiliser is set, check that the security indicator light blinks.*1

      OK
      The security indicator light blinks normally.
    2. When the theft deterrent system is in the arming preparation state, check that the security indicator light on.*2

      OK
      The security indicator light is on normally.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY - CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY))


    1. Disconnect the L27 combination meter sub-assembly (meter circuit plate) connector.

    2. Disconnect the L197 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L197-18 (IND) - L27-5 (LP) Always Below 1 Ω
      L197-18 (IND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the L27 combination meter sub-assembly (meter circuit plate) connector.

    2. Disconnect the 2A instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2A-51 (IND) - L27-5 (LP) Always Below 1 Ω
      2A-51 (IND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  6. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly Click here.

    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Tech Tips

      This inspection is to check the LIN line in the instrument panel junction block assembly that connects the wire harness to the built-in main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR


    1. Disconnect the L27 combination meter sub-assembly (meter circuit plate) connector.

    2. Disconnect the L197 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    3. Disconnect the 2A instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  8. REPLACE COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY (METER CIRCUIT PLATE)


    1. Temporarily replace the combination meter sub-assembly (meter circuit plate) with a new or known good one Click here.

    2. When the immobiliser is set or theft deterrent system is in the arming preparation state, check that the security indicator light blinks.

  9. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)


    1. Temporarily replace the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) with a new or known good one.

      Tech Tips

      Refer to Service Bulletin.

    2. When the immobiliser is set or theft deterrent system is in the arming preparation state, check that the security indicator light blinks.

  10. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY (METER CIRCUIT PLATE) - CERTIFICATION ECU)


    1. Disconnect the L27 combination meter sub-assembly (meter circuit plate) connector.

    2. Disconnect the L197 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
