INITIALIZE PANORAMIC MOON ROOF SYSTEM
Note
When the sliding roof glass sub-assembly, sliding roof housing panel or slide roof rail sub-assembly is adjusted or removed/installed, or the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (sliding roof ECU) is replaced, the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (sliding roof ECU) must be initialized. If initialization is not performed, the auto operation function, jam protection function, key-off operation function, key-linked function, wireless transmitter-linked function and sliding roof glass open warning function may not operate, or the sliding roof glass may move in reverse or become misaligned.
During initialization, do not apply a physical shocks, such as opening/closing a door or driving the vehicle at 5 km/h (3 mph) or more, to the vehicle and do not perform any electrical operations.
Make sure not to turn the engine switch on (IG) or off during initialization.
If the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (sliding roof ECU) is replaced, DTC B2343 will be stored. Clear the DTC after initialization.
Tech Tips
The sliding roof switch is positioned in the map light sub-assembly.
INITIALIZATION
| Condition of Sliding Roof Glass | Proceed to |
|---|---|
| Auto function does not operate (manual function operates) | Procedure A |
| Automatically moves, but the sliding roof glass moves in the reverse direction during slide close or tilt down operation | Procedure B |
| Sliding roof glass does not fully close due to misalignment, etc. | Procedure C |
Procedure A
Note
Press and hold the tilt switch (DOWN) or slide switch (CLOSE) until the roof glass stops at the fully closed position and initialization completes. If the switch is released partway, perform the procedure again from the first step.
Do not allow anything to become caught in the sliding roof glass by accident while performing this inspection. The roof glass only operates in a certain direction (does not reverse direction) until a slide close or tilt up operation is performed once.
When sliding roof glass position is in slide open position:
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Press and hold the tilt switch (DOWN) or slide switch (CLOSE).
The sliding roof glass operates in the following order: Slides open approximately 25 mm [0.98 in.]* → slides closed → tilts down → tilts up → slides closed → reverses position during initialization (approximately 245 mm [9.65 in.] open) → slides closed → tilts down → tilts up → tilts down.
Tech Tips
*: When operation before initialization was in open direction.
The sliding roof glass stops at the tilt down fully closed position and initialization completes.
Make sure that the sliding roof glass auto function operates normally.
When sliding roof glass position is between tilt up and fully closed position:
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Press and hold the tilt switch (DOWN) or slide switch (CLOSE).
The sliding roof glass operates in the following order: Slightly tilted down* → tilts up → reverses position during initialization (approximately 245 [9.65 in.] mm open) → slides closed → tilts down → tilts up → tilts down.
Tech Tips
*: When operation before initialization was in tilt down direction.
The sliding roof glass stops at the tilt down fully closed position and initialization completes.
Make sure that the sliding roof glass auto function operates normally.
Procedure B
When sliding roof glass is tilted up:
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Press and hold the tilt switch (DOWN) for 10 seconds or more until the sliding roof glass fully closes.
Check that the sliding roof glass can only be operated via manual operation.
Perform procedure B and complete initialization.
When sliding roof glass is not slid open:
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Press and hold the slide switch (CLOSE) for 10 seconds or more until the sliding roof glass fully closes.
Check that the sliding roof glass can only be operated via manual operation.
Perform procedure B and complete initialization.
Procedure C
When sliding roof glass is fully closed:
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Press and hold the tilt switch (DOWN) or slide switch (CLOSE) for 10 seconds or more.
Check that the sliding roof glass can only be tilted up via manual operation.
Perform procedure A and complete initialization.
When sliding roof glass is not slid open:
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Press and hold the tilt switch (DOWN) and slide switch (CLOSE) simultaneously for 10 seconds or more.
Check that the sliding roof glass can only be tilted up or slid closed via manual operation.
Perform procedure A and complete initialization.
