STEERING PAD(for Single Type) INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY

    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Support the steering pad assembly with one hand.

      Airbag Connector

      Connector Lock

      *3

      Horn Connector

      Connect the airbag connector to the steering pad assembly.

      Note:

      When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    5. Push in the connector lock to install the airbag connector.

    6. Connect the horn connector to the steering pad assembly.

    7. Attach the 3 claws to install the steering pad assembly.

      Tip:

      Attach the 3 claws by pushing the steering pad assembly.

      Note:

      Make sure that the steering pad assembly is securely installed.

  2. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

    1. Attach the guide and claw to install the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. INSPECT STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY

    1. With the steering pad assembly installed to the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad assembly with a new one:

      Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the steering pad assembly top surface or in the grooved portion.

    2. Make sure that the horn sounds.

      Tip:

      If the horn does not sound, inspect the horn system.

  5. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK

  6. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
