DIFFERENTIAL OIL REPLACEMENT

PROCEDURE


  1. AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL PROHIBITED (w/ Air Suspension)

  2. DRAIN DIFFERENTIAL OIL


    1. Stop the vehicle on a level surface.

    2. Front Differential:


      1. Remove the No .1 engine under cover assembly.

        Click here

      2. Remove the No. 2 engine under cover assembly.

        Click here

      3. Remove the strut bar bracket support sub-assembly.

        Click here

        Using a 10 mm socket hexagon wrench, remove the front differential filler plug (A) and gasket.

      5. Using a 10 mm socket hexagon wrench, remove the front differential drain plug (B) and gasket to drain the oil.

      6. Using a 10 mm socket hexagon wrench, install a new gasket and the rear differential drain plug (B).

        Torque:
        39 N*m  { 398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf }
    3. Rear differential:


      1. B006CQP

        Using a 10 mm socket hexagon wrench, remove the rear differential filler plug and gasket.

      2. B006BIJ

        Using a 10 mm socket hexagon wrench, install a new gasket and the rear differential drain plug.

      3. Using a 10 mm socket hexagon wrench, install a new gasket and the rear differential drain plug.

        Torque:
        49 N*m  { 500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf }
  3. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL


    1. Front differential:


      1. B006FWCC01
        *a 0 to 5 mm

        Add differential oil so that the oil level is between 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.196 in.) from the bottom lip of the differential filler plug opening.

        Note


        • Stop the vehicle on a level surface.

        • Too much or too little oil will lead to differential problems.

        • After changing the oil, drive the vehicle and then check the oil level again.

        Oil Type
        Toyota genuine differential gear oil LT 75W-85 GL-5 or equivalent
        Standard Differential Oil Capacity
        0.60 to 0.70 liters (0.63 to 0.74 US qts, 0.53 to 0.62 Imp. qts)
      2. Using a 10 mm socket hexagon wrench, install a new gasket and the rear differential filler plug.

        Torque:
        39 N*m  { 398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf }
      3. Install the strut bar bracket support sub-assembly.

      4. Install the No. 2 engine under cover assembly.

        Click here

      5. Install the No. 1 engine under cover assembly.

        Click here

    2. Rear differential:


      1. B0069YXC01
        *a 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.196 in.)

        Add differential oil so that the oil level is between 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.196 in.) from the bottom lip of the differential filler plug opening.

        Note


        • Too much or too little oil will lead to differential problems.

        • After changing the oil, drive the vehicle and then check the oil level again.

        Oil Type
        Toyota genuine differential gear oil LT 75W-85 GL-5 or equivalent
        Standard Differential Oil Capacity
        for V35A-FTS 2WD 0.80 to 0.90 liters (0.85 to 0.95 US qts, 0.70 to 0.79 Imp. qts)
        for 8GR-FKS and V35A-FTS AWD 1.30 to 1.40 liters (1.37 to 1.48 US qts, 1.14 to 1.23 Imp. qts)
      2. Using a 10 mm socket hexagon wrench, install a new gasket and the rear differential filler plug.

        Torque:
        49 N*m  { 500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf }
