PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    Make sure that the manual valve lever shaft has not been rotated prior to installing the park/neutral position switch as the detent spring may become detached from the manual valve lever shaft.

    1. A01DVE3E01

      Install the park/neutral position switch to the manual valve lever shaft and temporarily install the adjusting bolt.

    2. Install a new lock washer and the nut.

      Torque:
      7.0 N*m  { 71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf }
    3. A01DVL2E01

      Turn the control shaft lever LH clockwise until it stops, and then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches to set it to the N position.

    4. A01E30OE02

      Align the groove with the neutral basic line.

    5. Hold the switch in position and tighten the bolt.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }
    6. Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.

    7. Connect the parking/neutral position switch connector.

    8. Install the heat insulator with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.5 N*m  { 76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf }
  2. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION

    A01DZUZE01

    1. Remove the nut and disconnect the control cable.

    2. Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable from the control cable bracket.

    3. A01DVL2E01

      Push the control shaft rearward as much as possible.

    4. Return the control shaft lever 2 notches to the N position.

    5. While holding the control shaft lever slightly toward the R position side, tighten the nut.

      Torque:
      14 N*m  { 143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }
  3. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION

    1. When moving the shift lever from P to R with the ignition switch ON and the brake pedal depressed, make sure that the shift lever moves smoothly and correctly into position.

    2. Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward after moving the shift lever from N to D, and moves rearward after shifting to R.

      If the results are not as specified, inspect the park/neutral position switch and check the shift lever.

  4. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    A01DV2WE06

    1. Measure the resistance of the park/neutral switch when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
