BRAKE ACTUATOR DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR BRACKET ASSEMBLY

    1. B008BDD

Remove the 3 nuts and remove the brake actuator assembly from the brake actuator bracket assembly.

  2. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR DAMPER

    1. B008BH6

Remove the 3 brake actuator dampers from the brake actuator bracket assembly.

  3. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU

    CAUTION:

    • A static-sensitive pressure sensor is built into the brake actuator. Before starting the work, make sure to remove static electricity from your body by touching something metal such as vehicle body.

    • Do not touch the sensors in the brake actuator to prevent them from being damaged.

    • The seal on the skid control ECU is not replaceable. Be careful not to remove it by pulling or lifting it.

    • Replacing the skid control ECU deteriorates the threaded holes in the brake actuator. Therefore, the brake actuator is not reusable more than 5 times. Even if the brake actuator has not been reused more than 5 times, if the screws cannot be tightened to the specified torque, the brake actuator assembly must be replaced with a new one.

    • As the screws are not reusable, be sure to use new screws.

    1. B008BHN

Secure the brake actuator assembly in a vice with aluminum plates between the brake actuator assembly and the vice as shown in the illustration.

    2. B008BIB

Using a TORX deep socket wrench E5, remove the 4 screws.

    3. Remove the skid control ECU by gradually lifting it up.

      Note

Do not pry off the skid control ECU. To prevent damage to the coils, lift the skid control ECU straight up to remove it from the brake actuator.

    4. Check that there is no dirt or damage on the brake actuator seal surface.

      Note

      • Do not clean the skid control ECU and the brake actuator using compressed air.

      • Do not use a sandpaper or metal scraper to correct any damage on the brake actuator seal surface.

      • To remove remaining sealer, make sure to use a scraper made of resin.

      • Do not use chemicals, such as thinner, when cleaning.

      • Replace the brake actuator assembly if there is dirt or damage which cannot be cleaned or repaired on the seal surface.
