LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note:
  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE

  1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT

    Tip:

    All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.

  2. PRECAUTION

    Note:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Click here).

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).

  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly (Click here).

  5. REMOVE BOX PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the box panel sub-assembly (Click here).

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  8. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

  9. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 2 screws <A>.

    2. Detach the claw and guide, and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover.

  11. REMOVE FUSE BOX OPENING COVER

    1. for LHD:

      1. Detach the 6 clips and 4 claws.

      2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the fuse box opening cover.

    2. for RHD:

      1. Detach the 5 clips and 4 claws.

      2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the fuse box opening cover.

  12. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

  13. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the 3 claws and guide, and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover.

  14. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY

    1. Push in the sides of the glove compartment door to release the 2 stoppers and open the glove compartment door until it is horizontal.

    2. Detach the glove compartment door stopper from the glove compartment door as shown in the illustration.

      Pull the glove compartment door toward the rear of the vehicle to detach the 2 hinges and remove the glove compartment door.

  15. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Manual Air Conditioning System)

  16. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Air Conditioning System)

  17. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT

    1. Detach the 3 claws and guide, and remove the front No. 1 console box insert.

  18. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT

    1. Detach the 3 claws and guide, and remove the front No. 2 console box insert.

  19. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL

    1. Remove the screw <D>.

    2. Disconnect the connector.

    3. Detach the 4 clips and remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel finish panel.

  20. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. except Manual Transaxle:

      1. Remove the 4 nuts.

      2. Disconnect the connector, detach the clamp and move the shift lever assembly as shown in the illustration.

    2. for Manual Transaxle:

      1. Remove the 4 nuts, and then move the shift lever assembly as shown in the illustration.

    3. for LHD:

      1. Disconnect the connectors and clamps.

      2. Disconnect the hood lock control cable and DLC3.

      4. Remove the 11 bolts <C>.

      5. Detach the 6 guides and remove the lower instrument panel.

    4. for RHD:

      1. Disconnect the connector and clamps.

      5. Detach the 6 guides and remove the lower instrument panel.

  21. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the claw and remove the glove compartment door stopper.

  22. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCKCYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

    1. Using a screwdriver, push the stopper of the glove compartment door lock cylinder as shown in the illustration and remove the glove compartment door lock cylinder in the direction of the arrow in the illustration.

      Tip:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
