DESCRIPTION

The wheel speed sensor monitors the wheel rotation speed and sends a signal to the skid control ECU.

The skid control ECU converts the wheel speed signal into a 4-pulse signal and transmits it to the ECM via the combination meter. The ECM determines the vehicle speed based on the frequency of the pulse signal.

When driving vehicle with speed limiter system operating, vehicle speed signal is not sent to ECM.

  • Open or short in speedometer circuit

  • Speedometer assembly

  • ECM

Tip:

For vehicles with a speed limiter system, detection does not start unless the following conditions are met.

  • Adjustable Speed Limiter (ASL) Main button status is ON.

  • Average time period between speed pulses is a non-zero value and frozen for a calibrated time.

  • Sensed vehicle speed is greater than a calibrated threshold.

  • Engine is running.

Tip:

This DTC may be stored by the ECD system at the same time. In that case, perform troubleshooting for the ECD system first.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK FOR DTCs (DTC P0500)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. for 1ND-TV:

      Check for DTCs.
