REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. The spring rate of the coil spring is optimized to achieve excellent controllability and ride comfort.

    2. Spring insulators are provided at the top and bottom ends of the rear coil springs to ensure excellent vibration suppression.

    3. A low-pressure (N2) gas sealed rear shock absorber with a built-in digressive type piston valve is used to achieve a high level of controllability, driving stability and ride comfort.

      Tech Tips

To prevent hazardous conditions, make sure to empty the gas from the rear shock absorber assembly before discarding the low-pressure (N2) gas sealed in the rear shock absorber assembly. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.

    4. A resin absorber cap is used to reduce weight.

    5. The digressive type piston valve opens in 2 different stages according to the piston speed to ensure an optimal damping force at very low piston speeds and middle/high piston speeds.

      1. As only the stage 1 valve opens at very low piston speeds to ensure sufficient damping force even during minor movements, an enhanced response and comfortable flat ride have been achieved.

      2. At middle/high piston speeds such as during a strong input, the stage 1 and stage 2 valves open to reduce the damping force in order to increase ride comfort and reduce transmitted shock.
