REAR BRAKE REMOVAL
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
The following procedure is for the LH side.
Refer to the illustration to confirm the type of brake caliper.

PROCEDURE
REMOVE REAR WHEEL
DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
Note:If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.
REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

LOOSEN NO. 2 WIRE ADJUSTING NUT
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)
SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension)

Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

Rear Disc Brake Cylinder Assembly
Disengage the clip and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)

Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

Rear Disc Brake Cylinder Assembly
Disengage the clip and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE

Remove the union bolt and gasket, and disconnect the rear flexible hose from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

Hold

Turn
Hold the 2 rear disc brake cylinder slide pins and remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
Note:Remove the rear disc brake cylinder assembly while holding both of the rear disc brake pads because the anti-squeal springs may fall off the rear disc brake pads (for Type B).

REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD
for Type A:

Remove the 2 rear disc brake pads from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

for Type B:
-
Remove the 2 anti-squeal springs from the rear disc brake pads.

Remove the 2 rear disc brake pads from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM
for Type B:
Remove the rear No. 1 disc brake anti-squeal shim and rear No. 2 disc brake anti-squeal shim from each rear disc brake pad.
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE
for Type A:

Remove the 4 rear disc brake pad support plates from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.
Note:Each rear disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each rear disc brake pad support plate so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.

for Type B:
-
Remove the 2 rear disc brake pad support plates from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.
Note:Each rear disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each rear disc brake pad support plate so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.

REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
for Type A:

Remove the 2 rear disc brake cylinder slide pins from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

Protective Tape
Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the rear disc brake cylinder slide bushing from the disc brake cylinder slide pin (for upper side).
Note:Do not damage the rear disc brake cylinder slide pin (for upper side).

for Type B:
-
Remove the 2 rear disc brake cylinder slide pins from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

Protective Tape
Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the rear disc brake cylinder slide bushing from each rear disc brake cylinder slide pin.
Note:Do not damage the rear disc brake cylinder slide pin.

REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT

Remove the 2 rear disc brake bushing dust boots from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.
-
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING
-
Remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

REMOVE REAR DISC

Matchmark
Put matchmarks on the rear disc and the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
Remove the rear disc.
