Cannot Establish Wi-Fi Connection

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK "Wi-Fi" CONNECTION SETTING

    1. Check that the "Wi-Fi" connection setting is on.

      Table 1. Result

      Result

      Proceed to

      "Wi-Fi" connection setting is on.

      A

      "Wi-Fi" connection setting is off.

      B

CHANGE "Wi-Fi" CONNECTION SETTING TO ON

  2. CHECK "Wi-Fi" ACCESS POINT

    1. Check the "Wi-Fi" access point which the in-vehicle device is trying to connect to.

      Table 2. Result

      Result

      Proceed to

The in-vehicle device is trying to connect to the "Wi-Fi" access point of a portable device such as a mobile "Wi-Fi" router or tethering device.

      A

The in-vehicle device is trying to connect to a "Wi-Fi" access point other than a portable device.

      B

      Tip:

This diagnosis procedure is only for connecting to a "Wi-Fi" access point of a portable device inside the vehicle.

    USE PORTABLE DEVICE

  3. PERFORM "Wi-Fi" CONNECTION

    1. Bring a portable device to be used to establish a "Wi-Fi" connection into the cabin and perform "Wi- Fi" connection again near the in-vehicle device.

      Table 3. Result

      Result

      Proceed to

      "Wi-Fi" connection can be established.

      A

      "Wi-Fi" connection cannot be established.

      B

    END

  4. CHECK CONNECTION TO "Wi-Fi" ACCESS POINT

    1. Check the conditions and procedure for establishing a "Wi-Fi" connection, and perform "Wi-Fi" connection again.

      Tip:
      • Considering the radio wave environment around the vehicle, move the vehicle and establish a "Wi-Fi" connection.

      • As there may be interference, disconnect other "Wi-Fi" compatible devices or "Bluetooth" compatible devices before establishing a "Wi-Fi" connection.

      • A "Wi-Fi" connection may not be able to be established in a region other than where the vehicle was sold.

      • Customer operation may be required when establishing a "Wi-Fi" connection.

      • A "Wi-Fi" connection can be established manually or automatically.

      • There are 3 ways to establish a manual connection: Connecting using simple setting, connecting by searching for a "Wi-Fi" access point and inputting a password, and connecting by inputting an SSID and password.

      • Even though an automatic connection is enabled, a connection can be established only when a "Wi-Fi" access point with the same SSID and password that were used for a previous connection exists.

      Result

      Proceed to

      "Wi-Fi" connection can be established.

      A

      "Wi-Fi" connection cannot be established.

      B

    END

  5. CHECK CONDITION OF "Wi-Fi" ACCESS POINT

    1. Check the condition of portable device.

      Tip:

The head unit may not be able to connect to the access point due to the condition of the portable device (e.g., the power may not be turned on, tethering may be turned off, or the SSID (name of access point) may not be sent).

      Table 5. Result

      Result

      Proceed to

The power is off or tethering is turned off (access point).

      A

      Other than above.

      B

    RESTART ACCESS POINT

  6. CHECK IF "Wi-Fi" ACCESS POINT IS DISCOVERED ON MANUAL SEARCH

    1. Check if the "Wi-Fi" access point is discovered on a manual search.

      Table 6. Result

      Result

      Proceed to

There are no search results and SSID is not sent (access point).

      A

The device is detected via a network search.

      B

FOLLOW SETTING METHOD FOR EACH PORTABLE DEVICE IN ORDER TO SET ACCESS POINT TO BROADCAST SSID

  7. PERFORM "Wi-Fi" CONNECTION IN OTHER PLACE

    1. Change the location to another place and perform "Wi-Fi" connection.

      Note:

Bring the portable device close to the display of the radio and display receiver assembly.

      Result

      Proceed to

      "Wi-Fi" connection can be established.

      A

      Function cannot be stabilized.
