DESCRIPTION

The ECM monitors the battery. When the engine is running (not cranking) and the battery voltage drops below a specified level, the ECM determines that there is battery deterioration and stores a DTC.

Note:

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P1602)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

      Proceed to

      DTC P1602 is output

      DTC P1602 and other DTCs are output

      Tip:

      If any DTCs other than P1602 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
