      (1)

      Manual Open-and-close

This function operates when the canvas top switch is pressed and held for approximately 0.3 seconds or less.

      (2)

      One-touch Auto Open-and-close

This function operates when the canvas top switch (map light assembly) is pressed and held for more than approximately 0.3 seconds. When the canvas top switch (map light assembly) is operated, the canvas top opens to the fully open position or closes to the partially closed position. If the canvas top switch (map light assembly) is pressed during automatic operation, the canvas top will stop at the current position.

      (3)

Manual Close (from Partially Closed Position)

Continuing to press the canvas top switch causes the roof to close to the fully closed position.

  2. FAIL-SAFE

    1. Canvas Top System

      1. The fail-safes for the canvas top system are as follows:

        Function

        Outline

        Block Reversal

If a foreign object is detected during canvas top operation, the sliding roof control computer assembly will reverse the sliding roof motor assembly to protect the mechanism. This function is not the same as a jam protection function.

        Thermal Protection

This function is used to prevent the motor from overheating due to excessive continuous operation. If the conditions for thermal protection are met, the sliding roof operation is disabled for 15 seconds. After that, the sliding roof can be operated as much as twice the length of itself. If the sliding roof is fully closed, the ECU will ignore further operation requests to prevent additional overheating of the motor. Once the thermal protection is activated, a cooling period is required before the system will resume normal operation.
