UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tip:
  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE

  1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT

    Tip:

    All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.

  2. PRECAUTION

    Note:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Click here).

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

  6. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH

  7. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH

  8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH

  10. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH

  11. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH

  12. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

    B221996
    1. Remove the 2 screws <B>.

    2. Detach the 7 claws and 5 guides.

    3. Disconnect the connector and remove the glove compartment door.

  13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH

    1. for Automatic Air Conditioning System:

      1. B340797E01

        Put protective tape around the instrument panel finish panel end LH.

      2. Using a moulding remover A, detach the 3 clips and 2 guides, and remove the instrument panel finish panel end LH.

    2. for Manual Air Conditioning System:

      1. B340795E01

        Put protective tape around the instrument panel finish panel end LH.

      2. Using a moulding remover A, detach the 3 clips and guide, and remove the instrument panel finish panel end LH.

  14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH

      2. Using a moulding remover A, detach the 3 clips, claw and 2 guides, and remove the instrument panel finish panel end RH.

      2. Using a moulding remover A, detach the 3 clips, claw and guide, and remove the instrument panel finish panel end.

  15. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the 8 claws and 4 guides.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the center instrument panel register.

  16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the 4 claws and 11 guides, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel.

  17. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

  18. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Audio, for Radio and Display Type)

    1. Detach the 4 clips, 3 claws and 3 guides, and remove the center instrument cluster finish panel.

  19. REMOVE STEREO OPENING COVER WITH BRACKET (w/o Audio)

    1. Remove the 4 bolts and stereo opening cover.

  20. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Audio, for Radio Receiver Type)

  21. REMOVE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Audio, for Radio and Display Type)

  22. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Twist the shift lever knob in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

  23. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING ASSEMBLY (except Manual Transaxle)

    1. Detach the 5 claws and 3 clips.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the position indicator housing.

  24. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER (for Manual Transaxle)

    1. Twist the T washer in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

    2. Remove the knob spring.

    3. Detach the 5 claws and 3 clips, and remove the shifting hole cover.

  25. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (except Manual Transaxle)

    1. for Automatic Air Conditioning System:

      1. Remove the 3 screws <C>.

      2. Detach the 2 claws, 4 clips and 5 guides, and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

        Tip:

        If the 2 claws shown in the illustration are difficult to detach, detach the 4 clips of the air conditioning control and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel together with the air conditioning control.

    2. B222013

      for Manual Air Conditioning System:

      1. Remove the 3 screws <C>.

      2. Detach the 4 clips, 2 claws and 5 guides, and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

  26. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Manual Transaxle)

    1. for Automatic Air Conditioning System:

      1. Remove the 2 screws <C>.

      2. Detach the 2 claws, 4 clips and 5 guides, and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

        Tip:

        If the 2 claws shown in the illustration are difficult to detach, detach the 4 clips of the air conditioning control and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel together with the air conditioning control.

    2. B222017

      for Manual Air Conditioning System:

      1. Remove the 2 screws <C>.

      2. Detach the 4 clips, 2 claws and 5 guides, and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

  27. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE

    1. for LHD:

      Detach the 5 claws and 5 clips, and remove the No. 2 switch hole base.

    2. B225803

      for RHD:

      Detach the 3 claws and 5 clips, and remove the No. 2 switch hole base.

  28. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE

    1. w/ Entry and Start System:

      1. Detach the 2 claws and 2 clips.

      2. Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.

      w/o Entry and Start System:

      1. Detach the 2 claws and 2 clips, and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.

  29. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. for 4 Speakers:

      1. Detach the claws and clips shown in the illustration on the bottom of the panel. Then, using the 2 claws on the side of the panel towards the front of the vehicle as pivot points, lift up the panel in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to remove the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel.

    2. B222517

      for 6 Speakers:

      1. Detach the claws and clips shown in the illustration on the bottom of the panel. Then, using the 2 claws on the side of the panel towards the front of the vehicle as pivot points, lift up the panel in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration until the speaker connector can be disconnected.

      2. B222518

        Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel together with the speaker.

  30. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel.

  31. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the passenger airbag bolt <A>.

    2. Disconnect the connector and clamps.

    3. Remove the 3 screws <B>.

    4. Pull up the instrument panel safety pad to detach the 2 clips, 4 claws and 5 guides, and remove the instrument panel safety pad.

      Note:

      Be careful not to damage the steering wheel.
