DESCRIPTION

The TCM detects the signal from the No. 1 transfer indicator switch (L4 position switch).

This DTC indicates that the transfer L4 position switch remains ON.

  • Transfer L4 position switch remains ON while vehicle is running under following conditions for 1.8 seconds or more (1-trip detection logic):


    1. Output shaft speed 3000 rpm or less

    2. Transfer shift position is H

  • Short in transfer L4 position switch circuit

  • Transfer L4 position switch

  • TCM

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The TCM monitors the transfer L4 position switch to determine when the transfer-case L4 gear is engaged. If the transfer-case L4 gears remain engaged under all of the following conditions, the TCM will conclude that there is a malfunction of the transfer L4 position switch:


Then the TCM will illuminate the MIL and store the DTC.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH - BODY GROUND)

      Disconnect the No. 1 transfer indicator switch connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Remove the No. 1 transfer indicator switch.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the T4 No. 1 transfer indicator switch connector.

    2. Disconnect the T37 TCM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
