REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD RH
REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD LH
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE
REMOVE CENTER FLOOR CROSSMEMBER BRACE
REMOVE BODY MOUNTING PLATE
REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst)
CAUTION:
To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
Remove the 4 bolts, 4 compression springs and disconnect the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst) and center exhaust pipe assembly.
Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) from the 2 exhaust pipe supports.
Remove the 2 gaskets from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst) and the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).
REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY
REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR
CAUTION:
To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
Remove the 4 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst).
REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR
REMOVE EGR PIPE CONNECTOR

Remove the 4 bolts, nut and EGR pipe connector from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst), EGR cooler assembly and cylinder block sub-assembly.
Remove the 2 EGR cooler gaskets from the EGR pipe connector.
REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY
CAUTION:
To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
Remove the bolt, nut and manifold stay from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst) and stiffening crankcase assembly.
REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY
CAUTION:
To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
Remove the bolt, nut and No. 2 manifold stay from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst) and stiffening crankcase assembly.
REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front Catalyst)
CAUTION:
To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
Remove the 5 nuts and exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst) from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
Remove the exhaust manifold gasket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
REMOVE NO. 1 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR
Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 manifold converter insulator from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst).
REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR
Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst).
REMOVE STUD BOLT
Tech Tips
If a stud bolt is deformed or the threads are damaged, replace it.
Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the stud bolt from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst).
