Airbag Sensor Assembly (Except Models with VDIM)
The yaw rate sensor and acceleration sensor are built into the airbag sensor assembly.
The yaw rate sensor is a capacitive type sensor that measures changes in the angular velocity of the vehicle around its vertical axis.
The acceleration sensor is a capacitive type sensor that detects changes in the lateral and longitudinal velocity of the vehicle. The acceleration sensor consists of 2 sensors which are installed at 45 degree angles to the longitudinal centerline of the vehicle enable the acceleration sensor to measure acceleration in the full horizontal plane.

Yawrate Sensor Assembly (Models with VDIM)
The yaw rate sensor and acceleration sensor are integrated into one compact component which is located in the lower portion of the center console.
The yaw rate sensor measures changes in the angular velocity of the vehicle around its vertical axis. The yaw rate sensor is a capacitive type sensor with a dedicated IC for processing signals and is designed to be compact with increased vibration immunity.
The acceleration sensor is a capacitive type sensor that detects changes in the lateral and longitudinal velocity of the vehicle. 2 sensors which are installed at 45 degree angles to the longitudinal centerline of the vehicle enable the acceleration sensor to measure acceleration in the full horizontal plane.
