FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS
| Component | Function |
|---|---|
| Stereo Component Equalizer Assembly |
|
| Vehicle Sound Switch | Turns off or adjusts the volume of the sound output from the No. 1 speaker with box assembly. |
| No. 1 Speaker with Box Assembly | Emits sounds based on the signal from the stereo component equalizer assembly. The No. 1 speaker output sound is reverberated in the box. |
| ECM | Outputs the acceleration pedal depression amount, engine speed, generated torque, shift lever position, shift range and driving mode information to the stereo component equalizer assembly. |
| Acceleration Pedal Sensor Assembly | Sends the accelerator pedal depression angle signal to the ECM. |
| Paddle Shift Switch (Transmission Shift Switch Assembly)* | Detects the paddle shift switch operation and transmits a signal to the ECM. |
| Park/Neutral Positin Sensor Assembly | Sends a shift lever position signal to the ECM. |
| Integration Control and Panel Assembly | Sends a drive mode selected signal to the ECM. |
| Skid Control ECU | Detects the signals from each speed sensor and outputs the vehicle speed signal to the ECM. |
| Speed Sensor | Detects the wheel speed of each of the 4 wheels. |
*: Models with shift paddle
OPERATING CONDITION
The ASC system operates when the following conditions are met:
The engine switch is on (IG).
The driving mode is in NORMAL mode or SPORT (SPORT S/S+) mode.
The vehicle sound switch indicator light is illuminated.
The shift lever is in R, D or M.
The vehicle speed is 6 km/h (4 mph) or higher.
A lower volume output is performed when the driving mode is in NORMAL mode compared to SPORT (SPORT S/S+) mode.
The ASC system stops the driving sound output when ECO mode is selected.*
Tech Tips
When the driving mode is changed from ECO mode to NORMAL mode or SPORT (SPORT S/S+) mode, the ASC system may not restart immediately, as the operation conditions are redetermined.
The generated tone of the driving sound changes depending on the accelerator pedal depression amount.
| *1 | Vehicle Speed |
| *2 | 6 km/h (4 mph) |
| *3 | 0 km/h (0 mph) |
| *4 | Driving sound generated |
SYSTEM CONTROL
The ASC system outputs a driving sound when the vehicle is being driven in a mid-range or high speed range.
When the shift lever is in D, the stereo component equalizer assembly outputs a driving sound based on the engine speed and shift range signals sent from the ECM.
When shifting via shift paddle operation, the stereo component equalizer assembly creates and outputs a shifting noise due to shift change operation.
DIAGNOSIS
If the stereo component equalizer assembly detects a malfunction in the ASC system, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are stored in the stereo component equalizer assembly.
The 5-digit DTCs can be read by connecting the Global TechStream (GTS) to the DLC3. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
