| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P219962 | Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1/2 Correlation Signal Compare Failure |
DESCRIPTION
Refer to DTC P00AA11.
| DTC No. | Detection Item | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area | MIL | Memory | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P219962 | Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1/2 Correlation Signal Compare Failure | The difference between the temperature of the intake air temperature (mass air flow meter sub-assembly) bank 1 and bank 2 is Higher than 20°C (68°F) (2 trip detection logic). |
|
Comes on | DTC stored | SAE: P2199 |
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
This DTC is stored when a deviation from intake air temperature sensor characteristics is detected. The intake air temperature sensors are checked 420 minutes after the engine switch is turned off. If the pressures detected by the intake air temperature sensors differ by a certain amount, the MIL is illuminated and a DTC is stored (2 trip detection logic).
MONITOR STRATEGY
| Required Sensors/Components | Intake air temperature sensor (mass air flow meter sub-assembly) |
| Frequency of Operation | Once per driving cycle |
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure) [A].
Turn the engine switch off.
With the engine stopped, leave the vehicle as is for 7.5 hours or more [B].
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Start the engine and wait 120 seconds or more [C].
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes [D].
Read the pending DTCs.
Tech Tips
If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
Input the DTC: P219962.
Check the DTC judgment result.
| GTS Display | Description |
|---|---|
| NORMAL |
|
| ABNORMAL |
|
| INCOMPLETE |
|
Tech Tips
If the judgment result is NORMAL, the system is normal.
If the judgment result is ABNORMAL, the system is malfunctioning.
If the judgment result is INCOMPLETE, perform steps [B] through [D] again.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Tech Tips
Read Freeze Frame Data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as Freeze Frame Data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, Freeze Frame Data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO P219962)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
Read the DTCs.

Tech Tips
If any DTCs other than P219962 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
Record the freeze frame data.

CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA (COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR3, INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE B1S1 AND INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE B2S1)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Using the GTS, read the values displayed in the freeze frame data recorded in step 1.
| Tester Display |
|---|
| Coolant Temperature Sensor3 |
| Intake Air Temperature B1S1 |
| Intake Air Temperature B2S1 |
Compare the difference in temperatures between "Intake Air Temperature B1S1 and Coolant Temperature Sensor3" and "Intake Air Temperature B2S1 and Coolant Temperature Sensor3".
Tech Tips
When the engine is cold, the value of the engine coolant temperature and intake air temperature should be approximately the same.
If the result is not as specified, check that there are no heat sources such as a block heater in the engine compartment.
Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.
