ECM REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. PRECAUTION

    Note:
    • After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    • If the ECM has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    • Perform the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) registration when replacing the ECM.

  2. GPF DEPOSITION VALUES

    Note:

    Before replacing the ECM, store the volumes of accumulated ash (metal oxide) and PM (Particulate Matter). After replacing the ECM, write the volumes of accumulated ash and PM to the new ECM. (w/ Gasoline Particulate Filter)

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE

  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE ECM

    1. A354290

      Remove the bolt and shift the No. 1 air cleaner inlet.

    2. A354274

      Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.

      Note:

      After disconnecting the ECM connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting parts of the ECM connectors.

    3. Disengage the wire harness clamp.

      Remove the 2 bolts and disengage the guide to remove the ECM.

      Note:

      If the ECM has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  7. REMOVE ECM BRACKET

      Remove the 2 screws and ECM bracket from the ECM.

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 ECM BRACKET

      Remove the 2 screws and No. 2 ECM bracket from the ECM.
