POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM Power Back Door cannot be Operated Using Emblem Sensor

DESCRIPTION

Signals from the rear emblem sensor assembly are sent to the multiplex network door ECU. If the power back door system does not operate, there may be a malfunction in the rear emblem sensor assembly circuit.

  • Before troubleshooting, make sure that the "PBD/Emblem Sensor Function" customize setting is set to "PBD ON/Emblem ON".

  • If the multiplex network door ECU has been removed and installed or replaced, or if any of the connectors has been disconnected, initialize the power back door system.

  1. CHECK POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR CONTROL SWITCH - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the a1 rear emblem sensor assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the Z16 multiplex network door ECU connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Z16-33 (EMSR) - a1-2 (EMST) Always Below 1 Ω
      Z16-32 (EMST) - a1-4 (EMSR) Always Below 1 Ω
      Z16-33 (EMSR) or a1-2 (EMST) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Z16-32 (EMST) or a1-4 (EMSR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. REPLACE REAR EMBLEM SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Temporarily replace the rear emblem sensor assembly with a new or known good one.
