  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS


    1. The window defogger system consists of the following parts:

      Component Function
      Rear Window Defogger Switch Pressing this switch inputs rear window defogger operation signal into the main body ECU (network gateway ECU).
      Main Body ECU (Network Gateway ECU) Operates and controls the window defogger system in accordance with the signals from the rear window defogger switch.
      Rear Window Defogger Relay Supplies the drive current to the rear window defogger via the on/off control of the main body ECU (network gateway ECU).
      Rear Window Defogger Applies electrical current to a defogger wire installed in the back window glass to remove fogging from the back window glass.

  2. OPERATING CONDITION


    1. Window Defogger System


      1. When the ignition switch is turned on, and the rear window defogger switch is pushed, this system is activated to keep the defogger heater on for approximately 15 minutes.

      2. A customization features*1 allows for continuous drive mode*2. Refer to the repair manual for details.

        Tech Tips

        *1: Models with Automatic Air Conditioning

        *2: In continuous drive mode, a cycle of 15 minutes of output followed by 2 minutes off is repeated.
