FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT REPLACEMENT

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

   Click here

2. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE (for 2WD)

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the bolt and disconnect the front flexible hose.

3. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 2WD)

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Hold
      *b	Turn

      Hold the front disc brake cylinder slide pin and remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

      Note

      Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the front disc brake cylinder assembly LH from hanging down by the front flexible hose.

4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING LH (for 2WD)

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder mounting LH.

5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

   

   
   

   1. Remove the bolt and brake tube bracket from the steering knuckle.

   2. 

      Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

      Note

      Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the front disc brake cylinder assembly LH from hanging down by the front flexible hose.

6. REMOVE FRONT DISC

   Click here

7. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT

   

   *1	Nut
   *a	Turn
   *b	Hold

   
   

   1. Temporarily install 2 nuts and 2 washers to the 2 front axle hub bolts as shown in the illustration.

   2. Using SST and a screwdriver, remove the hub bolt.

      SST

      09650-17011

8. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT

   

   *1	Washer
   *2	Nut
   *a	Turn
   *b	Hold

   
   

   1. Temporarily install a plate washer and nut to a new hub bolt as shown in the illustration.

   2. Using a screwdriver to hold the front axle, install a new hub bolt by tightening the nut. Then remove the nut and plate washer.

   3. Remove the 2 nuts from the hub bolts.

9. INSTALL FRONT DISC

   Click here

10. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)

    
    

    1. Install the front disc brake cylinder assembly LH with the 2 bolts.

       Torque:

       197 N*m  { 2009 kgf*cm, 145 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install the brake tube bracket to the steering knuckle with the bolt.

       Torque:

       29 N*m  { 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

11. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING LH (for 2WD)

    
    

    1. Install the front disc brake cylinder mounting LH with the 2 bolts.

       Torque:

       160 N*m  { 1632 kgf*cm, 118 ft.*lbf }

12. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for 2WD)

    

    *a	Hold
    *b	Turn

    
    

    1. Hold the front disc brake cylinder slide pin and install the disc brake cylinder assembly LH to the disc brake cylinder mounting LH with 2 bolts.

       Torque:

       34.3 N*m  { 350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf }

13. CONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE (for 2WD)

    
    

    1. Connect the front flexible hose with the bolt.

       Torque:

       29 N*m  { 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

14. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
