CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    3. Attach the clip to set the curtain shield airbag assembly LH in place.

    4. Temporarily install the 2 new bolts.

    5. Install the clip.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the other clip.


      1. Attach the claw to connect a new clip.

        Note

        At this time, do not push in the pin to lock the clip.

      2. Check that the deployment portion of the curtain shield airbag assembly LH is not twisted.

        Push in the pin to lock the clip.

      4. Lightly pull on the clip to check whether it is locked.

    6. for Single Cab:

      Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

    7. for Double Cab:

      Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

    8. for Smart Cab:

      Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

      *a Connector Lock
      B0069FO Push in this Direction

      Connect the airbag connector and push the connector lock.

      Note

      When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  2. INSTALL ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY

  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK
