QUARTER WINDOW GLASS(for Hatchback) REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tip:
  • Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure described below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY (w/ Deck Board)

  2. REMOVE REAR FLOOR MAT ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX (w/ Deck Floor Box)

  4. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX LH (w/ Deck Floor Box)

  5. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/ Package Tray Trim)

  6. REMOVE REAR DECK TRIM COVER

  7. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

  8. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

  9. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

  10. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  11. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH LH

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK SIDE TRIM HOOK

  13. REMOVE LOWER DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH (w/ Deck Board)

  14. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY LH

  15. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH ASSEMBLY LH

  16. REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY

      Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the quarter window assembly on the vehicle body to prevent it from being scratched.

      Clip

      Piano Wire

      Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and quarter window assembly from the interior.

      Note:

      Do not pull the piano wire in a vertical direction, but pull it in a horizontal direction.

    3. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.

    4. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the quarter window assembly.

      Note:

      When separating the quarter window assembly, be careful not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.

      Using suction cups, disengage the 3 clips and remove the quarter window assembly.

      Note:
      • Be careful not to drop the quarter window assembly.

      • Be sure to replace the quarter window assembly with a new one.

  17. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

      Adhesive

      Clean and shape the contact surfaces of the vehicle body.

      1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) or more

      1. Using a knife, cut away excess adhesive on the contact surfaces of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

        Note:

        Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

        Tip:

        Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

    2. Clean the contact surfaces of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with non-residue solvent.

      Tip:

      Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
