REAR LEAF SPRING (for 4WD and Pre-Runner) INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL REAR LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Install the spring to the vehicle body.

  2. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR LEAF SPRING SHACKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the spring shackle to the spring and vehicle body.

  3. TEMPORARILY INSTALL SHACKLE INNER PLATE


    1. Temporarily install the inner plate to the shackle No. 2 with the 2 washers and 2 nuts.

      Tech Tips

      After stabilizing the suspension, torque the nut.

  4. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR LEAF SPRING PIN BOLT


    1. Temporarily install the pin bolt with the washer and nut.

      Tech Tips


      • The pin bolt can be installed from either side of the spring.

      • After stabilizing the suspension, torque the nut.

  5. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SPRING U BOLT

    1. Temporarily install the U bolt seat and spring bumper with the 2 U bolts, 4 washers and 4 nuts.

      Tech Tips

      When tightening the U bolts, tighten the nuts in diagonal pairs.

  6. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

    1. Install the 2 washers to the axle housing.

    2. Install 4 new bushes to the absorber.

    3. Install the absorber (with the 4 bushes) to the U bolt seat and frame.

    4. Install the 2 washers.

    5. Temporarily tighten the 2 bolts.

  7. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

    *1 No. 3 Parking Brake Cable *2 No. 3 Clip

    1. Install the No. 3 parking brake cable with the 3 bolts and nut.

      Torque:
      for Bolt A, Nut C
      26 N*m  { 260 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }
      for Bolt B
      14 N*m  { 143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install the No. 3 clip.

    3. Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable to the parking brake shoe lever LH and backing plate LH.


      1. Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable to the backing plate with the 2 bolts.

        Torque:
        9.0 N*m  { 92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf }

      2. Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable to the parking brake shoe lever Click here.

  8. STABILIZE SUSPENSION


    1. Lower the vehicle.

    2. Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.

  9. TIGHTEN SPRING SHACKLE INNER PLATE NUT


    1. Tighten the inner plate with the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      60 N*m  { 612 kgf*cm, 44 ft.*lbf }

  10. TIGHTEN REAR SPRING PIN NUT


    1. Tighten the pin nut.

      Torque:
      120 N*m  { 1224 kgf*cm, 89 ft.*lbf }

  11. TIGHTEN SPRING U BOLT SEAT NUT


    1. Tighten the set nut.

      Torque:
      120 N*m  { 1224 kgf*cm, 89 ft.*lbf }

  12. INSTALL REAR WHEEL


    1. Install the wheel.

      Torque:
      105 N*m  { 1070 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf }
