HARD DISK DRIVE PRECAUTION

  1. PRECAUTIONS FOR RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY

    1. An HDD is built into the radio receiver assembly to store map data, etc. which will be used for the navigation system. Therefore, care must be taken with the following points when handling it:

      B008IUPC01
*1 Hard Disc *2 Radio Receiver Assembly
      *a Example - -

      1. Do not apply any vibration or shock to the radio receiver assembly.

        Note

        • Do not drop or subject the radio receiver assembly to severe impacts.

        • Do not use the radio receiver assembly if it has been dropped or subjected to a severe impact.

      2. Do not remove the radio receiver assembly if there is a risk that condensation may occur.

        Note

If the temperature of the radio receiver assembly changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the radio receiver assembly is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity.

      3. Take measures to prevent static electricity.

        Note

Touching the terminals of a connector can cause static electricity to be transmitted to the internal circuits. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD.

      4. Keep the radio receiver assembly away from magnets or magnetized items.

        Note

Keep the radio receiver assembly away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.

  2. PRECAUTIONS FOR HARD DISC (HDD)

    1. The map data for the navigation system is stored on the Hard Disc Drive (HDD). Make sure to follow the following instructions when replacing the HDD:

      Note

Data downloaded by the customer may be stored on the HDD. This data will be lost when the HDD is replaced. Make sure to warn the customer that their data will be lost and obtain their consent prior to replacing the HDD.

      1. The HDD must only be replaced with a new one. Do not attempt to install a used HDD from another vehicle.

        Note

The radio receiver assembly can recognize only a new HDD.

        *a Example
        *b CORRECT
        *c INCORRECT

Do not touch the HDD cover.

        Note

When removing or installing the HDD, only hold it by the areas shown in the illustration.

      3. Do not apply any vibration or shock to the HDD.

        Note

        • Do not drop or allow anything to strike the HDD.

        • Never use an HDD that has been dropped or struck.

      4. Do not remove the HDD if there is a risk that condensation may occur.

        Note

If the temperature of the HDD changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the HDD is removed from the radio receiver assembly, it needs to be kept in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity.

      5. Take measures to prevent static electricity.

        Note

Touching the terminals of a connector can cause static electricity to be transmitted to the internal circuits. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD.

      6. Keep the HDD away from magnets or magnetized items.

        Note

Keep the HDD away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.

      7. Inspection after HDD replacement.

        Note

Make sure to perform Check Hard Disc in Operation Check to confirm that there are no HDD abnormalities after removal or installation Click here.

  3. PRECAUTIONS DURING REPLACEMENT

    Note

When replacing electronic parts, if there is a possibility that your body may contact a circuit board, etc., use the recommended tools and observe all precautions to prevent damage to the system by electrostatic discharge (ESD).

    1. Procedures where static electricity countermeasures are necessary

      1. Hard disc replacement.

      2. Internal wiring connection/disconnection, inspection, and replacement.

    2. Precautions during procedures

      1. Before performing any procedures, touch an unpainted metal part or ground bolt of the vehicle to eliminate any static electricity.

      2. To prevent damage to electrical equipment, disconnect the battery power supply before installing and removing electrical equipment.

      3. Never touch a circuit board's electronic parts, or an integrated circuit's pins.

      4. When performing procedures, do not allow clothing to come near or contact parts.
