    2. Daytime Running Light System (Models with Daytime Running Light System)

      1. The daytime running light system is designed to automatically illuminate the daytime running lights, during the daytime to keep the vehicle highly visible to other vehicles.

    3. Light Emitting Diode (LED) Daytime Running Light/Clearance Light

      1. LED lights (which can be lit up momentarily to ensure a long lifetime) are used for the daytime running lights/clearance lights inside the high intensity discharge (HID) headlights.

    4. High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlight System

      1. The HID headlight system uses a discharge headlight bulb as light source. Discharge headlight bulbs have features superior to halogen bulbs.

      2. Bi-function increases the upper illumination area of the discharge headlight bulb when the high beam is turned on.

    5. Automatic Headlight Beam Level Control System (Models with HID Headlight System)

      1. When the headlights are on, the automatic headlight beam level control system operates the headlight level motors in accordance with movement of the vehicle.

    6. Manual Headlight Beam Level Control System (Models with Manual Headlight Beam Level Control System)

      1. When the vehicle posture changes in accordance with the number (weight) of passengers and volume of luggage, this system makes it possible to adjust the low beam level (5-steps) manually to the appropriate level. The low beam level is adjusted using the headlight leveling switch.

    7. Automatic Light Control System (Models with Automatic Light Control System)

      1. When the dimmer switch is in the AUTO position, the light control sensor detects the ambient light level and automatically turns the headlights, taillights, side marker lights* and license plate lights on or off accordingly.

      2. This system is controlled by the main body ECU (network gateway ECU).

        • *: Models for Korea

    8. Follow Me Home System (Models for Europe)

      1. This system is designed to illuminate the low beam headlights for certain period after the vehicle parked.

    9. Light Auto Turn-off System

      1. The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the driver from leaving the vehicle with the headlights, front fog lights*1, taillights, rear fog light*2 or license plate lights on.

        • *1: Models with front fog light

        • *2: Models with rear fog light

    10. Light Reminder System

      1. When the driver door is opened with either the headlights or the taillights turned on when the ignition switch is turned off, the buzzer sounds to prevent the driver from forgetting to turn off the lights.

  3. PRECAUTION

    1. HID Headlight System

      1. When the HID headlights illuminate, a high voltage (approximately 22000 V) is applied momentarily to the bulb sockets, which could lead to a serious accident. Never connect the tester to the high voltage socket of HID headlight for measurement, as the high voltage may cause a serious accident.

      2. When inspecting the HID headlight system, in order to prevent electric shocks, make sure that water is not present, the light control switch is off, the battery terminal has been removed, and the connector of the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly has been disconnected.

      3. Operate the HID headlight only after assembly has been properly completed, and never operate without bulbs installed.

      4. Do not operate the HID headlight using a power source other than that of the vehicle.

      5. If there is a defect in the HID headlight or if the headlight has suffered a shock, replace the bulb with a new one.

      6. Discharge headlight bulbs reach high temperatures when illuminated. For this reason, the life of a bulb could be shortened if any oil comes in contact with the glass portion of a bulb. Do not touch the glass portion of a bulb with bare hands.

      7. Judgment whether to be externally poor is difficult for the bulb of the HID headlight. Therefore, a quality is judged by check changing for the normal discharge headlight bulb, and making the light switch on.

    2. Ignition Switch Expressions

      1. The type of ignition switch used on this model differs depending on the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.
