SPIRAL CABLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. Visually check for defects with the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly removed from the vehicle.

      
      

      1. The defects are as follows:

         
         

         • Scratches on the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly

         • Small cracks on the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly

         • Dents on the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly

         • Chips on the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly

         • Cracks or other damage to the connector

           OK
           No defects are found.

         If any of the defects is found, replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with a new one.

   2. Check the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

      Note

      As the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly may break, do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly more than the specified amount.

      
      

      1. Set the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly to the center position.

      2. Measure the resistance between each terminal of the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly according to the table below.

         Standard Resistance

         Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition L52-1 (CCS) - z10-3 Always 3 Ω or less L52-2 (ECC) - z10-4 Always 3 Ω or less L52-2 (ECC) - z9-6 Always 3 Ω or less L52-3 (DISP/+DP) - z9-7 Always 3 Ω or less L52-4 (EAU) - z9-8 Always 3 Ω or less L52-5 (AU2) - z9-9 Always 3 Ω or less L52-6 (AU1) - z9-10 Always 3 Ω or less L52-7 (R/N) - z10-1 Always 3 Ω or less L52-8 (HO) - z9-1 Always 3 Ω or less L52-9 (TRIP) - z9-2 Always 3 Ω or less L52-10 (AC1/+DP2) - z9-3 Always 3 Ω or less L52-11 (DIST) - z9-4 Always 3 Ω or less L52-12 (IL+2) - z9-5 Always 3 Ω or less L53-1 (D+) - z8-2 Always Below 1 Ω L53-2 (D-) - z8-1 Always Below 1 Ω

      3. After setting the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly to the center position, rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 2.5 times clockwise, and measure the resistance as shown in the table below. Then rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 5 times counterclockwise, and measure the resistance as shown in the table below.

         Standard Resistance

      4. After setting the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly to the center position, rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 2.5 times clockwise. Then while rotating the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 5 times counterclockwise, measure the resistance as shown in the table below.

         Standard Resistance

         If the result is not as specified, replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.
