CANISTER INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK CANISTER (FUEL SUCTION TUBE ASSEMBLY)

    1. Visually check the canister (fuel suction tube assembly).

      1. Visually check the canister (fuel suction tube assembly) for cracks or damage.

        If cracks or damage are found, replace the canister (fuel suction tube assembly).

    2. Inspect the ventilation of the canister (fuel suction tube assembly).

        Charcoal Canister Filter Sub-assembly

        Remove the charcoal canister filter sub-assembly.

        Air

        Apply compressed air to the port (A) and check that the air flows out from the port (B).

        OK

        The air flows out from the port (B).

        Apply compressed air to the port (B) and check that the air flows out from the port (A).

        OK

        The air flows out from the port (A).

    3. Inspect the check valve.

        Close the port (B), apply compressed air to the port (A).

        OK

        Air does not flow at first. By gradually increasing the pressure, air flows when the pressure in the port reaches a certain level.

        Vacuum Pump

        Using a vacuum pump, apply vacuum to the port (A) with the port (B) closed.

        OK

        The vacuum is maintained at first. By gradually increasing the vacuum, air flows and the vacuum decreases after the vacuum reaches a certain level.
