STEERING PAD REMOVAL
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.
The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

Note:After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Click here).
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Note:When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).
REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER
Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.
Tip:Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER
Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

Tip:Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
REMOVE STEERING PAD
Check that the ignition switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

Using a T25H "TORX" screwdriver, push in the 3 torsion springs to detach the 3 pins and remove the steering pad.
Note:Do not drop the steering pad.
When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
Tip:Insert the T25H "TORX" screwdriver into the installation areas of the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.

Tilt the steering pad toward the seat and support it with one hand.
Disconnect the horn connector.
Using a screwdriver, release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.
Note:When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
