SUN GEAR AND ONE-WAY CLUTCH REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL SUN GEAR INPUT DRUM SHAFT SNAP RING

    1. Using a screwdriver, install the snap ring on the planetary sun gear.

  2. INSTALL SUN GEAR INPUT DRUM

    1. Use a wooden block or similar object as a work stand and place the planetary sun gear onto it.

    2. Install the input drum onto the planetary sun gear.

      Using snap ring pliers, install the snap ring.

  3. INSTALL SUN GEAR SHAFT OIL SEAL RING

    1. Coat the 2 oil seal rings with ATF.

    2. Install the 2 oil seal rings onto the planetary sun gear.

      Note

      Do not expand the ring excessively.

      Tech Tips

      After installing the oil seal rings, check that they rotate smoothly.

  4. INSTALL NO. 1 ONE-WAY CLUTCH THRUST WASHER

    Tech Tips

    Make sure that the tabs of the washer fit into the holes in the sun gear input drum.

  5. INSTALL ONE-WAY CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Install the one-way clutch as shown in the illustration.

  6. INSPECT ONE-WAY CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Hold the planetary sun gear, and turn the one-way clutch assembly. Check that the one-way clutch hub can be turned freely clockwise and locks when turned counterclockwise.
