QUARTER WINDOW GLASS REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tip:
  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/ Package Tray Trim)

  2. REMOVE REAR FLOOR MAT ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Separate Seat Type)

  4. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Bench Seat Type)

  5. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

  6. DISCONNECT NO. 1 REAR SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY

  7. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

  9. REMOVE FRONT QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY LH

  10. REMOVE INNER ROOF SIDE GARNISH COVER LH (w/o Luggage Compartment Room Light)

  11. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LIGHT ASSEMBLY (w/ Luggage Compartment Room Light)

  12. REMOVE ROOF SIDE GARNISH END COVER LH

  13. REMOVE INNER ROOF SIDE GARNISH LH

  14. REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY

      Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the quarter window assembly on the vehicle body to prevent it from being scratched.

      Quarter Window Clip

      Piano Wire

      Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and quarter window assembly from the interior.

    3. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.

    4. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the quarter window assembly.

      Note:

      When separating the quarter window assembly, be careful not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.

      Using suction cups, disengage the 2 quarter window clips and remove the quarter window assembly.

      Note:

      Be careful not to drop the quarter window assembly.

  15. REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW CLIP

    1. When reusing the quarter window assembly:

        Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the 2 quarter window clips from the back side of the quarter window assembly.

        Note:
        • Be careful not to damage the quarter window assembly.

        • Be sure to replace the quarter window clips with new ones.

  16. REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW GLASS SPACER

    1. When reusing the quarter window assembly:

        Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the quarter window glass spacer from the back side of the quarter window assembly.

        Note:
        • Be careful not to damage the quarter window assembly.

        • Be sure to replace the quarter window glass spacer with a new one.

  17. CLEAN QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY

    1. When reusing the quarter window assembly:

      1. B149736

        Using a scraper, remove any remaining adhesive residue from the quarter window assembly.

        Note:

        Be careful not to damage the quarter window assembly.

      2. Clean the outer circumference of the quarter window assembly with a non-residue solvent.

        Note:
        • Do not touch the quarter window assembly surface after cleaning it.

        • Even if using a new quarter window assembly, clean the quarter window assembly with a non-residue solvent.

  18. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

    1. Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.

        Adhesive

        Using a knife, cut away excess adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

        1.0 mm (0.0394 in.)

        Note:

        Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

        Tip:

        Leave approximately 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) of adhesive on the vehicle body.

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with non-residue solvent.

        Tip:

        Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
