REAR BRAKE REMOVAL
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
The following procedure is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE REAR WHEEL
LOOSEN HEXALOBULAR SCREW

Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the hexalobular screw.
Note:Depress the brake pedal to prevent the rear brake drum sub-assembly from rotating.

DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
Note:If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
LOOSEN NO. 2 WIRE ADJUSTING NUT
Release the parking brake lever lock and return it to its off position.

No. 2 Wire Adjusting Nut
Loosen the No. 2 wire adjusting nut.
Note:If the No. 2 wire adjusting nut has been removed from the rod, replace the No. 2 wire adjusting nut with a new one.
REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY

Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the hexalobular screw and rear brake drum sub-assembly.

REMOVE BRAKE SHOE

Using SST, remove the shoe return spring (upper).

Using SST, remove the shoe return spring (lower).

Remove the brake shoe (front):

Using SST, remove the shoe hold down spring cup, shoe hold down spring, shoe hold down spring pin and brake shoe (front).

Remove the retaining screw spring and adjuster screw with nut from the brake shoe (front).

Remove the brake shoe (rear):

Using SST, remove the shoe hold down spring cup, shoe hold down spring, shoe hold down spring pin and brake shoe (rear).

Using needle-nose pliers, separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

Remove the adjuster strut with leaf spring and retaining strut spring from the brake shoe (rear).
Note:Do not damage or bend any of the components.

REMOVE REAR BRAKE WHEEL CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the brake line from the rear brake wheel cylinder assembly.

Remove the bolt and rear brake wheel cylinder assembly from the backing plate.
