DESCRIPTION

The seat belt control ECU receives information from the driving support EC assembly using CAN communication and tightens the seat belt by operating the motor in the front seat outer belt assembly LH.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

CAUTION:

The pretensioner is built into the front seat outer belt assembly LH. Be sure to follow the correct inspection procedure, as failure to follow the correct procedure (such as inspection of incorrect connectors) may deploy the pretensioner.

Note

After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

      Component without harness connected

      (Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly LH)

      Disconnect the R8 front seat outer belt assembly LH connector.

      Tech Tips

      Do not remove the front seat outer belt assembly LH.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R8-1 (MOL+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      R8-2 (MOL-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

      CAUTION:

      Do not check a wrong connector.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH - SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU)


    1. Disconnect the L2 seat belt control ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L2-3 (MOL+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      L2-4 (MOL-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
