SFI SYSTEM Starter Signal Circuit

DESCRIPTION

While the engine is being cranked, current flows from terminal STAR of the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)*1 or terminal ST2 of the ignition or starter switch assembly*2 to the park/neutral position switch and to terminal STA of the ECM (STA signal).

  1. CHECK WHETHER ENGINE CAN BE CRANKED


    1. Check if the engine can be cranked.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER SIGNAL)


    1. Connect the GTS to DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / All Data / Starter Signal.


      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Data List

    5. Check the value displayed on the GTS when the ignition switch is turned to ON and the engine is started.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ST RELAY - ECM)


    1. Remove the ST relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block.

    2. Disconnect the A38 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    2. Disconnect the C35 starter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    4. Disconnect the A38 ECM connector.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
