GLOW PLUG ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE

2. INSPECT GLOW PLUG ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. Disconnect the 4 connectors from the glow plug assemblies.

   2. 

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Glow plug terminal - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 0.1 to 0.9 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the glow plug assembly.

      Note

      
      

      • Be careful not to damage the glow plug assembly as this may cause an open circuit or shorten the life of the glow plug assemblies.

      
      

      • Prevent oil and fuel from spraying onto the glow plugs when cleaning.

      
      

      • Clean any oil on the terminal and bakelite washer with a dry cloth.

   3. Connect the 4 connectors to the glow plug assemblies.
