ECD SYSTEM (w/o EGR Cooler) MIL Circuit

DESCRIPTION

If the ECM detects a malfunction, the MIL illuminates. The ECM then records the DTC in its memory.

  1. CHECK MIL CONDITION

    Tech Tips

    Use the table below to troubleshoot each problem symptom.

  2. CHECK IF MIL TURNS OFF


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the intelligent tester ON.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / DTC.

    4. Check if DTCs have been stored. Take notes if there are DTCs.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / DTC / Clear.

    6. Clear the DTC(s) Click here.

    7. Check if the MIL turns off.

      OK
      MIL turns off.

    GO TO DTC CHART

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS


    1. A01DWTOE09

      Disconnect the E5 ECM connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    3. Check that the MIL does not illuminate.

      OK
      MIL does not illuminate.

    NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    OK

    REPLACE ECM

  4. CHECK IF MIL ILLUMINATES


    1. Check if the MIL illuminates when the ignition switch is turned ON.

      OK
      MIL illuminates.

    OK

  5. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (MIL CIRCUIT)

    OK
    Combination meter circuit is normal.
